Lawyer are we? I would not sue if it were me due to not being a massive fanny. Lost the tip of a finger once back to work inside 2 days. A nasty cut or a bit of concussion is not worthy of thousands of pounds compo though I concede inane was pushing it a bit.

You say all this, but you are probably the type who would sue a bird for crapping on your car. A feathered bird I hasten to add. How did you lose the tip of your finger, up your nose or did you chop it off yourself?
So. From a OP where a Tesco security guard asks a cyclist to remove his helmet you've moved the thread onto oppression of the white male and the perceived favouritism meted out to muslim women in niqabs in "such" stores. I should try and say something vaguely comedic but I really can't be bothered. Get a grip.

Or maybe you and that bloke from Lyme Regis are right. All niqab (not burkha) wearers are actually Vernon look-a-likes on the prowl to eat "your" children, rob "your" banks and occupy "your" churches. Which actually sounds quite exciting! Bring it on. My daddy was a bankrobber and spent time in Wormwood Scrubs, even though he arrived with a turban and ended up getting rid due to, er, "social pressures from the indigenous community" to confirm.

Look - get over it. "We've" won. In the same way as cyclists have taken over London "we've" won the social demographic.

Oh - by the way, I only shop at Budgen's in Surbiton as they let me take my bike in. I have been thrown out of TK Max on Tooting broadway twice for wheeling my bike around. Lidl by Tooting Bec let me roll my bike around. No helmet, though, as I'm a sexy mofo. Oh, yes, and the Wheatsheaf Pub at Tooting Bec lets me take my bike inside when I'm having a swiftie on the way home. And the Stage Door Pub at Waterloo. And the Maypole (my local) in Surbiton. Just have to tease out the bike-friendly places.
Wow....hit a nerve have I? Bit of a leap from a touch of irony to blathering racism! Chill out man!

I do have an issue with one section of society being treated in a different manner to another section of it. Either all head coverings (in a bank for example) are an issue or none are.

You don't really have an issue with it though. Let's keep things in perspective.

Do you have accident insurance? Is your bike road-worthy? Does it have wing mirrors? Indicators? Should you, as a vulnerable road user, be given extra protections ?

They would struggle as we don't own one. Nice assumption though. I lost the tip of my finger and my nail due to an accident at work years back. I probably could have sued but being nice I did not considering it was 50/50 whose fault it was and hardly worth jacking in a good job at the time over. I certainly would not give a hoot if a pineapple fell on my head while shopping I know that much. Compensation obviously has it's place I.E a crash that's not your fault that leads to serious injuries etc but minor injuries na not worth the bother and leads to all this silly excessive health and safety nonsense that makes things crap for everyone.

srw

It's a bit more complicated than that...
So discrimination against someone because of their belief is fine, but all discrimination is wrong.
Hmmmm.......

I think we may be straying into areas that the refined folk of the tearoom would rather we didn't touch. Silly me - more discrimination.

Good point about this being the Tea Room so I will leave this alone.

The refined bit however  :wahhey:
