Nissan Note boot switch problem

You know what, I've no idea how our steering lock engages on both our Nissans as we never use them these days. I've had my Nissan 21 years.

We used to with other cars/nissans prior to transponders. Once, MIL's 2nd gen Micra (it was ours before we gave it to her) got nicked and they tried to break the steering lock. The steering wheel fell off - apparently they were designed for the sterring wheel to snap off before the lock.

I didn’t. It started working again so the urgency has kind of dropped off.

Probably worth a squirt of contact cleaner or brake cleaner on the electrical contacts.

Indeed, as soon as I find my can of contact cleaner! I've now narrowed down the places I might have left it "so I remember where it is" to under 6!
