Again, it's personal preference tho, I found I really struggled with bar end...I like to move my hands around on the bars and sometimes wrap them around the end of the bar. I found barends really constricted my movement as I kept banging my hands into them when I tried to move them outwards. They lasted two weeks and came off again, the disadvantages for me far outweighed the benefits. Then again, they are quite cheap, so you don't lose much by trying...

Coming from doing no cycling for about 10 years until last summer, I'm now doing an 18-20 mile round trip commute 3 days a week plus semi regular Sunday runs. I'd really like to go to 4 days commuting, but I'm finding my legs are just too tired.

I wonder, am I expecting too much of my 35yo body or am I just pushing too hard on the commuting days?

Just give it time, you can't expect to build stamina over night...
