Hi Sharkey

What's the best BMX I can get for £30... needs to be really REALLY fast on tarmac and I need a gear that can get me up a 25% at 12mph+.

Thanks in advance - SD

Hi all,

Just joined so thought I would chip in and say hello!

I am 35 years young and incredibly unfit. I have toyed with the idea if not the reality of cycling for many many years and have decided once and for all to get off my backside and give it a try. Had a rough few years and need to get out and meet people at some stage and I thought cycling might help me in that respect as well as boost my fitness and get to see some nice scenery (if I can get over a mile without passing out that is!)

At the moment, I have dusted off my old saracen mtb that has slick tyres on it, and that will have to do until I can save enough pennies to buy myself what I really want, a nice swish roadbike! I am in the middle of fixing up the mtb as it has...ahem....suffered a little from neglect but am hoping to have it up and running for my first ride this weekend down Blackpool promenade (little steps and all that lol)

Wow, I have waffled on, sorry to bore you......all I wanted to do was say hi!

Hope to get to know some of you over time, you seem a really nice bunch and have already read some really useful stuff for beginners to thanks already

take care

Hi everyone!

I just joined CC yesterday. My name's Maggie and I live in SE London. I used to cycle a lot back in my home country, Poland, and had a 4-year break when I came to the UK. I got myself a bike quite recently I started cycling to work and realized it's so much more fun than taking the public transport. So, here I am  I'm hoping to meet some new people from my area here and get some much needed advice, too.

Hello & welcome to CC

You're right about cycling Vs London transport... would never go back to the bus / train now!

Hello - just ride in the summer as my main sport is orienteering but keep picking up injury after injury so use cycling to try to keep some aerobic fitness during the "off" season. Ride a red S-works E5 framed Spech. and a Single Speed Spech. Tricross ( army green - nicer looking than it sounds! ).
