Hi,
New to this site. Came on here as I saw something in classifieds that I am interested in buying but can't reply until I have posted 10 times
I'm mainly a runner but have entered my first triathlon this year at the age of 50 so need to pick up on the cycling. I haven't got loads of expensive gear though - just plan to do the triathlon on my 2010 Specialized Secteur roadbike.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Thank you Shaun.
Nice to be able to read and talk to people about bikes and rides and stuff. Good fun......

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi all, Ive had a busy week trying out a potential 1st proper new road bike in my £500 budget, Giant, Trek, Carrera, Boardman, bTwin and a viking.
I was originally really impressed with the bTwin triban 5, but thought I'd better have a good look around and do a bit of online research, and after a busy week in and out of cycle shops and picking up some great advice I finaly went with..............................................the bTwin Triban 5, my first choice.
It really is a great bike, also came with "look" pedals and cleats and some cheap lights, the frame is under guarantee fort 5 years and the parts for 2.
For some reason the brakes are on the wrong way round, I think its a european thing.
Looking forward to getting out tomorow morning and getting to know my new bike.
Thanks to everyone on this site for all the great advice, I am a lot more knowledgable now than I was last week.
John.

Hi all,
I finally got my 1950s Elswick butchers bike back on the road after about 25 years since I last restored it and I am enjoying riding it once again. I now have to rescue my 1950s Higgins trike and My late 80s Saracen road bike but one thing at a time. I think all my other bikes have gone to scrap over the years of non-riding. I now have to get my fitness up to the point of being able to travel further than the next town on it.

Greetings. Name is Denzil, I am from South Africa and recently decided that mountain biking looks better than garden work or cleaning the pool.
Are there any other South African here?
