My mission statement:
- Understand difference between bikes and those other things that you can get in supermarkets.
Oh that's quiet simple, you have to pedal to get moving on a cycle, the other things in the supermarkets, they dont have pedals,do they???:welcome:

Hi everyone, I am a born again cyclist. Was a 23 stone couch potato now dusted off my old MTB and hitting the road again after a 30 year absence. I did the London - Brighton when I was 16 and have had the urge to get going again for a while but finally got myself motivated. Already shed over 3 stone cycling around Gravesend area also did the Forest Way/ Worth way the other week 38 miles OUCH! Already I find my old Saracen Rufftrax is too slow:rolleyes:. I probably need to lose another couple of lbs (or stone more like) before I upgrade to a road bike. I have got my place on the London - Cambridge bike ride so need to get a few more practice miles in. If someone is slowing you down on that ride it will be me^_^. When I upgrade I will probably go for the cheap and cheerful Decathelon flat bar road bike (don't think my back could handle drops) @ £249 if I break it its not the end of the world:smile:. Seems I missed out a little while ago it was on sale @ £199 is this a regular offer ? i'm not in that much of a hurry. I doubt if I will ever become an 8 stone superbiker but you never know.

Hi there from Glasgow.

Getting a new bike at weekend, haven't cycled for about 10yrs. Walk a lot but it's starting to get boring, same old streets etc. Thought I'd join for advice and motivation. This place was recommended from another forum "Endomondo"

Hi all,
I've already made a few posts but thought i'd be polite and say 'ello in here.
My name is Bob, from the Wirral. I've been commuting and generally pootling about on bikes for about 20 years. I decided to take it bit more seriously in an effort to lose weight and get fitter so I bought myself a new bike (or two) and go out MTBing most weekends. I'm really enjoying it but now I'm feeling the urge to move over to the "dark side" i.e. road bikes.
