Just curious - if you use decals, would you need clearcoat on top to protect them? Also - is the paint fully cured when back from powder coat, am sure I heard somewhere that you still have to leave for a week or two to fully harden off?

That one sided bridge on the chainstay is a real thrifty thing - on the Twenty they used a plastic collar instead of a top headset bearing - must have saved them a ha'penny a bike..........

Looks a good job , hope you can still get the seat post in with the powder coat on the inside of the tube

A bit more fettling today, gave the chain a good scrub and oil, should change it really, but it’s got a bit more life in it yet.

seat post and handlebars a clean and polish and some sundry nuts and bolts.

I gave brake levers another coat of enamel to hide the scratches.

I’ve got quite a big job with the wheels next, it’s probably going to be at least ten days before I can put the bike back together.

That's a nice, fine bit of powder coating. Great price too.

Is it an idea to rebadge it,

View attachment 496324

there should be a couple on this vinyl sheet to do the job.

Nooo! Those modern Raleigh decals would look completely out of place on a vintage steel framed bike! :stop:
The powder coat looks really nice, especially for the low cost, and it would be much better finished off with some traditional looking ones like on my Raleigh Royal and Pioneer.

These will work much better against an old-school single colour painted frame. And it needs a set of the appropriate tubing stickers too!

In my book, no, not with a very traditional single-colour paint job. The whole appearance of the bike will have changed completely, and really it cannot be attributed to be a Scorpio any longer. It has become an 18-23 steel framed Raleigh sports bike and it really needs no more adornment than a Raleigh headbadge and a non model-specific Raleigh decal on the down tube.
