Get some 2000 grit wet and dry. Use it to thoroughly and carefully rub down the stem wet, and then Autosol the hell out of it. It'll come up like chrome.

I may just do that, I’ll see if I can be bothered, it looks much better now than it did.

I wouldn’t over restore it, personally I like some patina, they didn’t leave the factory highly polished.

This thread sums up whats best about this vintage bike malarkey, you find somthing unloved, unwanted and get so much fun out of it, as much as any shining superstar bike, likely more so , the mundane can sometimes shine louder than the gold plated wonder.

You're right, I may have grabbed the wrong picture off t'internet. But seeing as @CarlP has already bought some it shouldn't matter as the piccy was only for illustration.

I wonder what the other race is for, the American/BMX crank possibly ?
