I have to admit, I am liking the look of the newley designed Pashley bikes. They both look very nice, the Green one is really taking my fancy.

They certainly look classy.

Nice but far too expensive for me.

Whats the range on the E models as I couldn't see anything? It has a 250w battery so I'm guessing 25-35 miles.

I am a sucker for a pair of nice fenders, especially close fitting colour matched ones like those, but you would think that they could have gotten the Renolds tubing sticker on straight for a bike sent out for review.

I‘ve heard rude things about poor finish ( rust ) on Pashley bikes so they better do a better job if they want to justify those price tags.

Expensive, or value?

Two and a half large is a lot, but with a modicum of care would outlast me and give one of my kids a lifetime of riding, which makes it a value proposition.

The range of the E models is entirely dependent upon how had and often you use the assistance, so 25 miles to infinity...

Its more than that for E - £4k, an extra £1500 for an E over the non-E seems a lot but the frame on the E look very sleek and well designed so I'm guessing thats were the money has been spent rather than just ad-hoc fitting a battery/motor. I'd definately be open to getting a lightweight e-commuter with a range of 35 miles between charges but £4k is too much for me to spend.

Very nice. I'd buy one of them if I could have silver wheels, drivetrain and finishing gear. I couldn't be doing with all that blackness.

I can see them being fairly successful, and I wish them the best for the new bike. They're certainly on point with the marketing- they've flooded all the uk bike sites today. It's a tough industry, and you've got to give it everything.

On the face of it, I'm not convinced about all the 3D printed elements- particularly that seat cluster which looks like a very solid structure just at the point where the seat tube needs flexion in order to clamp the seat post. They do give the thing a certain appealing sheen, however, and I guess we used to get excited about investment cast lugs, which are arguably similar.

I'd also liked to have seen steel forks for a better fit to the style of bike. But if the frame is genuinely fabricated in the UK (is it? The blurb in the article seems evasive on this front..?) then that strikes me as a competitive price for the frame itself. My money for this kind of bike would probably go towards a Mason (or even a Rivendell if they weren't US based), but they are both built in the far east.

Do any British custom builders make bikes at anything close to this price point any more? I don't mean the boutique lot, more the creators of functional frames which all the local club riders would buy- Bob Jackson, Dave Yates etc?

Edit- also the down tube on the electric one looks BIIIG. It would have to be coke-can thin to not weigh a ton, surely?!

It does depend, I think on what they intend to do?
Pashley have the niche market on building democratic designs, more style rather functional, buti have to question do they build the frames themselves, pricing themselves in the same bracket as 'Spa' cycles is ,perhaps over reaching a bit , 'Dpa' perhaps are just as guilty themselves ,their framesets are built in the far East, but at least they assembled them with care, a vibe I don't get with Pashley, I may be wrong, but most of Pashley are the downside of quality & build.
But they did build the knock off Moulton's quite well, I did consider one for overseas touring ,packing it down for flights.
Ultimately we need to see top notch build quality, and to my mind home built frames for the price being asked.
I have history with Pashley, as a Royal Mail bike mech, they certainly put together tough , but the finish & components, was another story, but then they were contract bikes built in thousands
