I bet it's not as filthy as mine.

They're the Schwalbe Smart Sams I bought with the bike, had less than 50 miles onboard since then as I found myself going all flatbar road bike upside yo' dome during the summer months. So they're in good shape. 700 x 40c. Fast rollers but softish knobs alongside...

I still favour my hardtail on the TPT but it's in a shocking state. Might go along to Liverpool on the Quick this weekend.

Which ones have you gone for Stu?
Been thinking of going back to some semi slicks on my Tricross for the TPT.

Has Naminder got her bike dirty yet, come on you know you want to

To quote a Cc member, I got down and dirty, thanks:becool:

Where about have you been cycling? I want to steal your route ideas

I took it up through Tattenhoe park, past the golf course and Snehall[?], then out to Whaddon. There aren't any Strava segments for that route, thankfully. It was fairly flat riding, and isolated.
The other way is go through Kingsmead to Whaddon.
I've also taken it to Campbell park on the test ride. I'd like to try that again and go round Willen lake, while I'm there.
Another route is up to Stony and then Wolverton and the canal paths, most muddy around there  Those paths head back to Fenny.

Evans are advertising rides in April, starting in Bow Brickhill and up to 60 miles. I'd like to try the Brickhills next, I'll need to look up a route first. I've heard it's hilly, so be warned

Athough Buddhist by inclination I am the worlds WORST when it comes to scratching your worldly possessions!

I fully understand the angst that comes with every first ding on your new guitar/viola/car/bicycle/aztec crystal skull....but a combination of Zen mind, medication and Tribute Ale usually gets me over it in the end.

I just got mud on my new tyres!

Theres a little lane opposite the far end of the golf course that goes out towards Winslow, most of it is traffic free and some really quiet lanes, parts of it are a bit muddy and potholey. http://goo.gl/maps/tWgf2 You can cross the A421 (i wouldnt dare try riding that road) and link it back up through Nash & Whaddon. Some of the roads around Nash and particularly Beachampton are rather hilly, for MK anyway. I've not cycled around Stony at all, though I've followed the canal upto Stoke Bruerne/Salcey Forest, the canal past cosgrove has thorny bushes growing over it so you're almost guaranteed a puncture every time, it really is that bad, the country lanes are decent, but very up and down. The canal going south is pretty good after Lakes Estate apart from a grassy bit before Tring, but at least flat and traffic free, most of it's in the middle of nowhere so very few fishermen or walkers to avoid, and kinda runs alongside the mainline train so you can bail out easily, or stop at a pub and get too drunk to cycle home

The Brickhills are good, both the roads and the trails, although the sand on the trails will make your new bike sound like crap and need a thorough clean, so I tend to keep to the roads. I dont think I can actually get up the hill from Bow Brickhill at the moment in one go at the moment, the road into great brickhill from fenny is a little easier, longer but less steep. Normally id go over the top, into Woburn - past the fields of stags which sometimes stand in the road with their huge antlers  , then either cut back past Amazon upto Salford and into Broughton, or from Woburn out to Steppingly, Milbrook, Cranfield, Salford, Broughton.

A lot of where you can go depends on how happy you are cycling on the roads and finding the quiet roads that arent like racetracks.

Take it outside, stand holding it, then let loose, it will fall over and receive minor abrasions on it's extremities! Now.... the 1st scratch is out of the way, start riding it as it should be ridden.

Take your new bike outside and drop it on the floor !!!! what sort of advise is that ,, whats next - get some grit and mud and rub it into the head bearings and drive train so you dont have to worry about goind through muddy puddles.
I have had my newest bike 3 years now and it doesnt have one scratch on it , i ride it all year, bikes dont get scratched by themselves they get scratched by people that dont care ...
