Hi all
Taken delivery this morning of a nice Planet X RT58 in blue, took the protective bits off the toptube to find a medium sized chip all the way through to the paint on the underside what options do I have other than returning the bike? Anyone else been in the same situation with planet x or another bike shop?
Thanks!
Matthew

Waiting to hear back on what they say, but was wondering if anyone else had been in a similar situation.

Email and say you're willing to keep it but want £100 compensation. Or £50. They'll give you a voucher rather than pick it up and discount it to the next buyer.

Will see what they come back with, and try and get a discount from it as would be much easier than faffing on returning it then waiting again for another bike to be shipped out, although will wait and see what they come up with!

1. See my other response on another thread about not buying unseen.

2. Send it back, and insist on them paying the postage *if* it's demonstrable that you didn't cause the damage.

3. Go and try some bikes from local shops and establish a relationship with a seller, and buy a bike from them.

or

1. Accept the purchase, hate yourself and Planet X in a mild but nagging sense each time you get the bike out, and end up selling it within a year as a "marked, second hand bike" and get about 200 quid for it,

See if they will offer you £££ discount, then spend some of it on some modelling paint of the right colour, touch up the chip in layers allowing time for each layer to dry before applying more paint. Enjoy the (discounted) bike.
