Do they still have a single speed bike in the line up?

Surprisingly there's not one on the Boardman website - it seemed to be quite popular with CCers over the last few years. Maybe one will appear at a later date?

I think there were still some 2010 models available a Halfords with reduced to clear prices - not looked at their site for a while though!!

Agree on the CX team looking great, would be a superb commuter/winter training machine!

/drool

I'm so having one of these at the end of the month. No shop near me stocks them, so i will need to order instore or have it delivered. I have a couple of questions pending on halfords site. If you look at the size for medium & small bike they give the same size 51-54cm. So my understanding is the smallest of the range is 20" and that isn't small at all.

Also i am pleased to see dual mounting bosses on the back, so a rack & full length guard can have its own place. But i cannot see any holes at all on the front forks. so i hope i don't need to buy a pack of full length guards & throw the front one away & have to buy a seperate clip-on for the front

(a) Best get your specifications from the Boardman site - http://www.boardmanbikes.com/cx/cx_team.html they have all the correct sizes; XS 50cm, SM 51.5cm, MD 53cm, LG 55.5cm, XL 57cm + corresponding other geometry changes(top tube etc, etc).

(b) You're right neither can I - perhaps when Boardman upgrade their accessories they could provide their own model specific ones?

Halfords have branches in the Netherlands and Belgium. I'm not expecting the Boardmans to be sold at them though.

 I bow to your superior knowledge of cycle shops in the low countries!!

I don't see how these will be excluded from Boardmans proposed "worldwide" expansion as detailed by CB himself on the Boardman website?

Am i reading that right then, that still makes the smallest of the range a 19 inch bike. And that still might be too big for my 31" inside leg

The Elite models will not be exclusive to Halfords, either in the UK or overseas.

Probably a good idea, I can't imagine many peeps going to Halfords to drop £3k on a bike.

Aye, 19" looks like the smallest size. Sorry!

I'm not an expert at sizing bikes(or much else to be honest ;) ) but I wouldn't go by the Halfords size/height charts.

Hope you find one that fits.

The Boardmans are going "global" this year too - without Halfords!

Oi Norm we've already mentioned this!!!! ;)

Didn't know the Elites would be sold outside Halfords in the UK though???

Believe it or not, some of the 2009/2010 Carbon Boardmans were well in excess of that already. I believe some of the AiR TT "frames" sold on the Boardman website over the last few years were more than double that!!! ;)

I mentioned you on another Boardman thread only a matter of days ago!!!

How are you doing anyway - still working???

Well they sold the Carrera range for a bit and then stopped selling them altogether. And on checking, they aren't even the same company any more - so you were correct!

 - ;)

I honestly didn't know Halfords had any shops overseas at anytime - I'm not a Halfords fan/expert.

Some of the Carrera models get high praise on here too and are owned by many CCers!!!

I got that from Cycling Active this month - I hope that I read it right. I did check it as I was surprised and a little more hopeful for the brand.

I must admit that the details of the higher end of the Boardman range have passed me by in the past, because of the Halfords connection.

I would blow, and have blown, £100 on a bike for the kids there (setting it up myself when I got home!) but I was struggling when I was looking for my road bikes, to actually consider spending that much on a bike without thinking that I'd either have to set it up myself or take it to another shop. Not just the (possible) snobbery but the complete lack of trust that I have in the stores.

Where? When? What did I do?

Currently, yes, and for a great company which is a nice 10-mile commute from Chateau Norm, so I'm cycling about 3 days a week.

I know what you mean about Halfords service/sales and I agree(although I've heard there are good ones  ) - but as others have pointed out the after sales service from many LBS's leaves a lot to be desired too!!!

On another thread on here(CC) someone just posted a link to Chris Boardmans reaction(on BikeRadar 2009) to the Halfords involvement in the whole project of getting his bike to the masses and developing his brand. It made interesting reading. http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12629742

Where? When? What did I do?

I just mentioned the tale of how you took a trial ride on a bike from an LBS and rode it home to Chateau Norm.

Indeed, that was just over 12 months ago and I ride that bike (the Tricross) into work today.

As for lbs standards, one of the reasons I've got the Secteur rather than a Defy is the local Giant dealers don't deserve my cash. The local Spec dealers not only allow me to take away a bike before I've paid for it but they offer tea and coffee when I go along and they have taught me basic maintenance.
