I did a 55 miler last Saturday morning including the cat and fiddle road and long hill wearing bib shorts. Never again it was bloody freezing with the moisture up high. Will be popping into decathlon to get the membrane tights this week. Their gel pad range are brilliant.

Scrap that - comments suggest good for autumn but not good enough down to low single figures.

Surprised at that. Although female I got these in small man's size and was out this morning. Was bang on freezing with icy patches on the road and I felt fine.

The link is to the now discontinued pace range.

I found this to be a good review of the vaeon zero (£90) tights, whic mentions the vaeon standard tights too:

"I have worn these bib tights on several commute rides in temps ranging from -1 to +5 degrees. I have a relatively long commute (25 miles each way) and they have been excellent. The roubaix material keeps you cozy and the wind-proofing panels prevents losing precious heat on fast descents or in windy conditions. They have proved extremely comfortable too.
I also have the standard Vaeon Roubaix bibs (which are excellent in warmer temps of >5) and the main differences for the zero version are:
1) warmer & windproof
2) foot loops rather than calf zips
3) Thicker pad
I had purchased the zero's as I was feeling the chill in the standard Vaeons during a really cold snap we had recently in Scotland. I can honestly say these have been brilliant and kept we warm superbly.
I haven't been caught in a shower yet so can't comment on the teflon coating and how water resistant it is.
As for sizing...I am 5ft11 and around 14 stone with 34 inch waist. I find large fit me superbly though they do feel tighter around legs than my normal Vaeon's due to the windproof panels."

Yes, I was lucky that the small did me so still had some in stock. Certainly rate the DHB stuff quite well. Wasn't sure if there was much difference between male and female fit but I find them fine.

I just bought a pair of Biemme Coronado tights, took them out last weekend for a 70 miler and they seem pretty good, pad was fine. Wore them this morning at 4 degrees and they seem to stay nice and toasty at lower temperatures while not being sweaty up to 10 degrees plus.

Just been reading up about these-seem good quality and a good price. What size did you go for and what is the pad like?

I went for a large but in hindsight probably would have been better with an xl, that is just being 6'3 but with a 34" waist, lanky git.... The pad is good, equivalent to the high end Decathlon pads. It was comfy on the ride over the Snake and down to Wheelock. I got them from High on Bikes eBay shop. Delivered next day.
