I reckon you're thinking of mackerel, but it's not quite true (if you take the names of the stations as they're written on the tube map).

Speaking of the London Underground, I always cracked up when riding the Northern Line whenever the tannoy announced "The next station is Oval" (as opposed to triangular, rectangular or octagonal, etc....).
