Smart B/Spoke 0.5w Front/Rear lights(approved by London Transport) aren't a bad - be seen light.
These can be had from Chain Reaction for £18(half RRP) - some say the rear is worth that alone, if you shop around you could find the set cheaper elsewhere. I bought two sets for £13 each in the Wiggle sale - but I don't think they stock them now.

I've got 3 front lights and 3 rear lights - reason - if one fails I've still got at least two on. Always carry extra batteries(I pick them up when ASDA, Tesco reduce them).

I saw the ones you were talking about::

Looks a really good bet, i have been having a think and i don’t think i have any reflectiveness on my bike whatsoever so i might get two sets of these lights. as people have said many times already its best to be seen from the rear and im sure there’s not such a thing as overdoing it. Well that’s maybe a lie, if i add a light display around my bike that might be going to far, hehe. cheers for that, good price for something can potentially save my life.

An jane you can butt in anytime hehe

Do you have a hi-vis vest? These normally have two reflective stripes to help with the reflectiveness, and can be dirt cheap (I got one from the poundshop today, to cut the stripes off to use on other things). Think about when you see emergency workers at night on TV - it's those strips that stand out in headlights.

Also useful are ankle bands - again, you can get these fairly cheaply from many outlets, either velco/elasticated or as 'slapwraps' (they have a metal strip that stays flat until you press it, when it springs into a loop around an arm or leg). The key thing about them (as with a pedal reflector) is that the up and down movement of your foot and ankle is unique to a cyclist, so that drivers can see what you are from a distance.

Finally, depending how fussy you are about the bike, you can get retro-reflective stickers and so on, to adorn whatever surfaces you fancy.

I'll hold you to the cake promise, one day. Deep fried is fine!

I managed to get back out on the bike today, First cycle of the New Year. done a nice 20 mile cycle, had my new winter warmers on and they worked a treat, only downside was how sweaty my hands were when i took my clothes off. took me 1 hour 20 mins. 47 minutes from Cairneyhill to Dalgety Bay (11 miles) and then just 33 minutes on the way back. i was happy i can finally get out, the bike needs a proper clean afterwords but its all nice and sparkling again. ow i just need more time to get out more often xx(

lol well I have 2 jobs Arch, first job is where I take 12 laptops around Fife and teach computing to people in ex mining communities, i could attach a little trailer but it might prove a bit difficult :0

the other job is for a corporate company (naming no names, don’t want to be run over) where I work 9am till 8pm, cycling in should be fine but its getting home in the dark might be a bit trickier, I was thinking through once the better weather comes in to start commuting ;)

Ach, just get a cargo bike, an Xtracycle would be ideal! And a set of lights of course...
