Yeah, well, he was wriggling to try and get away, so I had to just grab randomly...

Was there much to grab?

As I wasn't there this advice migh be useless, but you might signal for an overtake, and then just abort as the road narrowed.

Personally, given the cyclist was doing 30, I'd have moved right a bit as the car behind tried to overtake me.

Block his path and drop into second gear. A little go slow to create some room. If he's being a real tosser, stop altogether.

I keep calm and I don't let them bully me. But then I don't give a toss if they scratch my car. It's only a car.

Your driving was fine.
Some drivers only see as far as the vehicle ahead that is 'in their way'. At least you were planning ahead and anticipated the driver attempting an overtake. That puts you in the better position to take evasive action if necessary should the other car have contacted the cyclist, thus preventing things getting worse.

In my car 30mph on the clock = 25mph.

Oh gosh, the thought of you two ladies trying to hold BoaB, who acording to his photos stands well over six foot, down and grabbing at various bits has had me giggling for the last fifteen minutes while trying not to wake the rest of the house:rofl::smile:. Not easy:biggrin:

thankfully resistance was futile;)

Was he really maintaining 30?
He must be demigod.

He was very slim, and fast. Perhaps not 30mph all the time, but slower up the short hilly bits and very fast on the downhill bits. I thought that the speed he was doing was such that it was not worth risking his limbs, or mine or those of the person driving towards us, if I overtook. Visibility was poor, (round corners and over the tops of hill etc). My journey would normally take 20 or 25 mins, he might have added at most five mins to that. I think the driver behind me did not consider that I was going slowly for a reason. Which is why he nearly collided with the cyclist. Admittedly my version of "nearly" might be the said driver's version of "missed him by miles".

On the same stretch of road you could easily get stuck behind a tractor etc and have even less chance of overtaking.
