Where in India are you? Hyderabad if i remember correctly. I hope you realise, that next time anyone from cyclechat visits, we will be expecting you to take us out riding!

Yeah, come to India, we will have some fun doing cycling across the city. Cycling helped me explore the city and only because of my cycle I am getting up at 5:30 AM in the morning everyday. You know how much enjoying it is when you go towards your cycle and put your left foot on one paddle and then move a little and put your 2nd foot on 2nd paddle and vroooom... You just can't get that kind of feeling on a motorcycle. I love riding on it, though sometimes when I get stuck in Traffic I feet frustrated with all the blakc crbon on my face and clothes but during early morning riding a cycle alone like a free bird is a lot of fun.

You just wait though. When someone gets into cycling, you just want more and more bikes. Has an indian ever rode the Tour de France?

Not sure but heard some Indians are trying to do this. Main problem is money, these bikes like Kona, Trek, Merida, Schwinn, Bianchi, Cannondle, Orbea etc have launched their cycles in India a few months ago but they are very very expansive. I have completed around more than 200KM on my cycle and now I want more, oe hard-Taail MTB, one fixie, one cyclocross, one for XC etc etc. I got a habit or looking at the passing cycles for what brand/model they are, don't even look at passing motorcycles anymore

You are right

To put things in perspective, the average income in india is about 37,000 nr. so this bike equates to about 6 weeks wages.

Equivalent bike in a the uk = £3000

Enjoy arnuld.

I remember my first "cheap" bike - a "2 For £100" from Stirling House Direct. My only other bike prior to this was when I was 9 years old - A Raleigh "chipper" (small chopper!)....so 25 years was a long time to wait!

I was (at that time) in the middle of losing a lot of weight I'd dropped from 25 stone to 19 stone and since then I've dropped another 4 1/2 stone (now comfortable at 14 1/2 stone). Anyway, I was probably too heavy for the "cheap bike" and ok, it was a really bad MTB/ATB with shocks that were shocking and a wobbly back wheel. A bit of tweaking and tinkering and that bike got me hooked on cycling - it lasted 18 months before the back wheel fell off and I went over a wall. I'll take the blame for that happening as I was over the recommended weight limit...LOL

The thing with bikes (as I've found) is once you get the bug, you retain the bug! I traded up to a Giant Boulder (which I am still riding and which didn't miss a day during the heavy snow recently) and I'm in the process of buying a touring bike/cyclo cross bike when I eventually get round to making my effing mind up!

Arnuld - that looks like a perfectly good bike for commuting my friend, may you have many enjoyable and safe rides back and forth on your daily route. I can't wait till I get my new one.....whenever and whatever it will be! ;)
