Cheating the blood pressure machine kind of defeats the object! What you have is a bounce reaction to the raised pressure of the excercise and can last up to 4-5 hours.

The London Cyclist is not high, it is high normal. At 21 I would want it lower, but I am not a Dr.
Yes, it is cheating, I admit it. But as there's nothing wrong with LC, it's fun learning how you can change the figures, albeit temporarily.

See my problem when a Dr takes it is my pulse wil be 65 and when I tell them its normally 45 they look at me as if I am a loon. I only get away with it now by taking in my own one. 125/68 44 pulse just now and I am 47. No meds either just 10k miles and 4-5 stone and lifestyle change. If you seroius about getting one get an electronic one seriously thoguh I wouldn't bother just go to doc and tell them what you got.

It has been proven that the best prescription for cardic is sweat. And those temp drops can become normal over time. Wasn't having a pop at you just didn't want London Cyclist to do it on his first visit lol

I'm 21...

BP is on the high side for your age - a normal first number is 120  Were you nervous getting the test done?

Mine was 135/85 just before my recent surgery when I was obviously nervous, I was down to 105/65 after the op. Normal for me is around 105/70 (40, heavyset, stressful job  )

You do not want a diastolic below 60 really or a systolic below 100 - throws up other potential issues

Has it ever been tested before? If concerned, see your GP

Yeah, but that was a long time ago. I've never had it tested at college and stuff like that. Maybe I was nervous :S

I shouldn't worry about it UNLESS you have a history of high blood pressure/heart disease/diabetes etc in the family (ask your mum)

Next time you see the doctor for something unmentionable or snotty, ask them to check the BP. It's not sky high, and the second number is ok

Those blood pressure machines are scary! It's like some kind of giant octopus tentacle attached to your arm. Throw in the 'white coat syndrome' and it's a recipie for elevated readings, imho.

I have always liked them lol. It's a weird sensation of the tightening on your arm.

Male
Pulse rate: 45- 50
Blood pressure: 147/83
BMI: 24.05
Health Advice: "None"

What do you guys think? I know nothing about this stuff. It was a free test at College. Cheers

male - you probably already knew that, without medical confirmation.
pulse rate - largely irrelevant, but suggests you are alive
blood pressure - a snapshot of your BP at the time it was taken
BMI - probably normal
health advice - "none" is probably good

All in all, and assuming you have no underlying health issues, probably nothing you didn't know already.

If my pulse rate is that low on normal day activities, how low do you think it goes when I'm resting or even sleeping...

I can lower pulse rate fairly significantly by thinking about it . really freaks the OHS nurse out in work. blood pressure is all over the place depending on when and where I have it taken. do it at the docs and they start to ask all sorts of questions as its fairly high. do it at home its where it always has been around for the last 5 or so years - 135/75. as a 20 yr old it was 120/70 and pulse rate was 62.

current pulse rate 60 minutes after finishing the ride in 64.

I had some horrendous readings when i was a smoker though, pulse rate well into the upper 70s blood pressure 160/90. I used to avoid the doctors. Its amazing what stopping smoking did for me.
