I'd love a big garage, just so I had somewhere to work on the cars undercover, rather than having to grovel around on the road with traffic zipping past my feet.

We had a garage for about 20 years, but towards the end of its life it was becoming increasingly cluttered with non-motoring stuff. We eventually got decided not to replace it and got rid of it, kept part of the garage area as car standing space and had room to add another shed to take some of the stuff.

TBH, going through what used to be kept in the garage made us chuck a lot of rubbish out. Having storage space often results in accumulating junk. The shed has about a tenth of what used to be in the garage.

The only time I miss the garage is winter, when frosted windows on the car can be a bit of a pain in the early mornings, but most nights we manage to get the car cover on before the car gets too damp to use it.

When last house hunting, Mrs P was looking at number of bedrooms, local schools, etc.
I was looking for a garage with somewhere to live next door

When we decided to buy a house, this was my No1 priority.......

Our first house, and still here... I've got a rather nice 'detached' garage for my bikes.......shame the house is bulging with kids stuff.....

I have never had a garage. This house does have two sheds though. Ones full of bikes and ones full of what was the contents of the loft in the old house. We moved in here and the day after I put 30 boxes of junk, stuff I coulden't persuade family members to chuck out, in one of the sheds and I would imagine it will still be there when we eventually move out.

We have spent the past couple of days clearing out the garage so BF new car can go in it tomorrow when we get it, he has bought a MX5 for a second car (was made redundant at the start of Dec then got another job within two weeks so money is burning a hole in his pocket).

My only concern is that my bike will not fit in the garage, in front of the car so I can get it out when I want it ;)

I have two out houses which I thought would be great for my bikes and workshop when I bought the house but now with three little boys they have taken over with their cars, scooters, bikes. I'm getting squeezed out!;)
