Dry so far with a brisk NW wind.
We seem to be obsessed with the weather here but there is an excuse in that it has a bigger impact on our lives than mainland.

I used to get job applications from people who admitted they found life stressful and wanted to come here for a more peaceful existence. In fact life here is more difficult in many ways and certainly in the past people had to work harder and having two jobs was not uncommon. Add on the uncertainty caused by ferry cancellations due to weather.
The owner of a knitwear factory on Tiree told me he was going to give up as the workforce could not be depended to turn up every working day and on time. The croft and livestock had to be attended to and other work had to take second place.

I may try to get out but rain is forecast so that is a bit doubtful.

I've just seen our school's strike information. They have said any student on free school meals can come between 12.30-1pm for a meal. It must be prebooked and they must be in full uniform. How in the real world do people on low incomes in areas with crap transport options. Get them to school in the 1st place ? School transport is not running but then again that's not around at that time anyway.Yet they go on about missing school some kids would be log off online learning for a good 1-2 hours. Other schools have seen sense and issued low income households with food vouchers.

The couple you mention must have had their own boat as none of the tour boats would be there anywhere near darkness.
The story about the Americans was probably true.
A lifeboat run into Staffa a few years ago in a force 9 gale well after dark while heading to an emergency in the Sound of Iona.
The coxwain at that time was bit of a cowboy, if that is not insulting to cowboys.

Ah, it was the SWCP I was referring to. I live at one end of it so every day was getting closer to home.

Into work, dodging the picket line, to discover one of the two seminars I was supposed to be facilitating has been taken off me. I *knew* it was being considered, because I'm over my limit for the year, but it'd have been nice to let me know. However, just 3-5pm to be done from now on rather than 1-3pm and 3-5pm. Oh, and I do do other things as well ...

... and on another note I worked out I've done over 1100 miles on the Holdsworth Roi de Velo track bike since getting it a year ago to replace my 'learner' track bike. That's an awful lot of going round in an oval only one direction. Over 6400 laps worth going round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round, and round ...
