Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Having just bought a Thompson Capella to build up as a 'not-sure-yet-but-was-originally-to-be-a-commuter-replacement' bike I decided to follow their Facebook page. Now I appreciate they're Belgian, but is this something I should be engaging with since I now own one?

It is sunny here .
I have had a shift round in my garage and swapped my Carrera Zelos over for my Raleigh Clubman . I went out for a short ride after lunch. There was still some frost lying in the shadows so I took it steady . It was nice to get out into the countryside for a while .
One reason to go for a ride was to compare the gearing between the two bikes . I managed to climb the bridges over the railway in 4 th gear in the small chainring today whereas I had to use 1st on the Zelos the other day. I'm getting puzzled as to why it seems that modern bikes seem to need lower gearing to climb hills . It can't just be me as I've read road tests which say that some ratios on modern bikes aren't suited for hills yet they are using 34 tooth chainrings .

I know the feeling , l haven't been to the UK since 2016 , it'll be like going to a "foreign" country !

I feel like that when I go in town

Thaw has kind of started. My drive to the surgery this morning was" interesting" in bits but much worse conditions did not faze me in the past so I coped ok.
The back road down to Main St did not look gritted so I took it easy with the main hazard being other drivers with no idea how to drive in such conditions.
Surgery was busy and my nurse was running late as many like me had cancelled earlier and rebooked for today. Interesting to listen to local gossip I never normally hear nowadays.
Saw a post on the Dark Side about sea eagles and thought I should put my oar in but had to log in again to post. Would not accept any of my passwords so tried the forgotten bit. I had to mark all squares with sunflowers. Not really got much idea what sunflowers should look like so that did not work.
Sea eagles do carry off lambs as my wildlife pal saw it happening when he was in company with an RSPB bod.Much to the discomfiture of said person who was denying it ever happened and then with a witness it did indeed happen.
There are folk tales in Shetland of babies being carried off as well by them.
