Good for you, there does seem to be a rather strange attitude to it.
Indeed, it used to embarrass the hell out of my motor racing and cat show friends to begin with before they knew, thinking that their hospitality was lacking as I never had any wine, champagne etc. Once I explained that I didn't drink, there'd always be a fresh brew waiting for me.


On other occasions it's cost me dearly.


I do keep a small stock of alcohol to cook with though, as some things aren't the same without a sploosh of wine or brandy...
