Some while back we had a brief discussion about water availability and a kind poster offered that churches would often have taps for people to water flowers in the grave yard; I was wondering if the churches might also have toilets for needy cyclists to use?

I've often used taps in graveyards to refill my water bottles when touring but have never looked for toilets.

Puncture on Brommie and then puncture of spare tube. Hadn’t found anything poking through tyre before fitting new tube, but something must be embedded somewhere. Then a two hour walk home. Nice day for it. Must remember patch kit next time I am out on it.

Almost certainly no. Pubs are your best bet when out and about in the countryside. Polite to ask and / or buy something.

:hello: from trackside in Norfolk where it's lunch time. Coffee and a sandwich are being had in the sunshine. Somewhere close I can hear an aircraft doing acrobatics.

From the drive up this morning it seems like this is the start of the classic car run season - everything from 40s American up to a group of recent Lotuseseses (Carlton x 2 included). I'm probably showing my age, but the one I'd like to own of those seen was a Ford Granada estate.

I had the brown coupe, a1978 model, my second car, until about 1994. Broke down near a park, my father drove forty miles to have a look. Block was cracked, so we drove it to the junkyard. Broke down on the road outside the junkyard completely. Fellow just walked out with a cable and pulled it into the crusher. Handed me $100. I bought it in 1988 for a second car, had it until the mid 1990s. Paid $500 dollars for it. I was a bit distraught, but my father explained to me that $500 dollars was many peoples car payment per month. I have been associated with being a skinflint, at times.

Usually, at least in The States. On the topic of water, I usually carry a sillcock key, as they usually just take the handle off the hydrant.

I would also recommend bars and pubs, but in The States gas stations are easier to find, or Wal*Mart. I was taking video of trains yesterday, and a fellow came past me on Old Route 66 on a fully loaded tourer.

Maybe that explains why I passed a Mercury Monterey around Thetford Forest today. There was an Austin Cambridge just in front of it. And, of course, a strong smell of petrol...
