I've come into Leeds for a viva (that's the 'oral examination' version, not the Vauxhall type) due to queries with their submission.

The student didn't attend.

By not attending the less unpleasant viva meeting they've missed the opportunity to avoid having the more unpleasant investigatory meeting. Their choice.

Is this the same student who got caught submitting an assignment that was done by AI / a writing service?

I had a rather wet bellied dog this morning, playing ball on the field. Utterly obsessive!

You are undressed without a hat.

I love the smell of wet dog in the morning 💦 😂

And, I agree! I'm rarely without a beanie, cap or my Tilley.. Today, sadly, I forgot ☹️

I am giving my house a good clean as I have just left it for a few months due to various reasons.

Anyway, I found some VERY mouldy and forgotten bread and so, I opened the packet and emptied the... Erm... Contents... Into the garden waste bin.

Whoosh!!

A HUGE cloud of mold erupted into the sky!! 😏🤦‍♂️😂

The bin is now sat down - wind in a neighbour's garden (she's on holiday) until further notice.

... Oh and don't get me started on the mouldy teabags... ☺️

Whoops!

Had anything developed language skills?

Time to feed the cat, and then it will be time to feed me.

May have mentioned we cut our two day camping trip short just over a week ago as MrsF tripped and sprained her ankle. Checked over in A&E, no break. Roll on 10 days and we get a letter asking her to phone the hospital to speak to a consultant following receipt of the xray report. MrsF is not in a good mood.

Better not be another missed fracture (they had apparently tried to call but left no messages). So that's on top of the two xrays they missed of my fractured pelvis. I'll be recommending a visit to 'Specsavers'. We'll find out tomorrow !

Nope, a different one. I've agreed to chair quite a lot of these this week to clear a backlog. It makes the students look bad but in reality it's a tiny percentage of submissions by a few students out of a significantly larger number of students.

I'm chairing others during the rest of this week, but those will be from home.

I'm still amazed you bought an assignment off the internet for a module you delivered - the extent some people go to ! As said it's a tiny number in the grand scheme, but it doesn't half take a lot of work and time to review these cases.

@fossyant - I'd agree about the time it takes to check, investigate, hold meetings, etc.

It'd be so much easier if they didn't, but a few choose to try. And looking into those submissions is part of my job. The more we can learn the easier it becomes.

Oh, and the bought assignment had a Turnitin report (they're a plagiarism checking company for those unaware), with reference. That's now being looked into in terms of how a commercial cheat essay seller has access - I've worked out which UK HE institution was used, and they will know exactly whose account uploaded the cheat essay, so someone's going to be in big trouble shortly for inappropriate and unauthorised use of their software :okay: .
