I popped out to get a watch battery, only to find everywhere was shut on a Monday: why doesn't one of them open? However, I got a coffee and cake plus tested the fuschia Raleigh before Sunday's retro ride out of Lincoln.

On the way back I passed someone practising for Easter Monday's World Coal Carrying Championships. No photo from today but men carry a 50kg sack of coal, women a 20kg sack:

As a yoof, I swung an eight pound sledge hammer all day, driving spikes into railroad ties. I think I can hardly pick one up, now.

First working day of the week completed. Somewhat out of my routine as I had an appointment with the dental hygienist at 9 so walked there instead of doing my usual perambulation. It meant I was starting work late so worked up the time. I was finished work just in time to get something to eat before going to my dance class. Been quite a busy day, only getting to relax now to some blues on the radio.

Dental hygienist pleased with me and apparently I do excellent job looking after my teeth. I brush twice a day and quick swill around with Listerine or similar, so I'm hardly doing anything special.

Going to dance class, I always take a shortcut through the forecourt of the Hyundai agency, and I see they have a small and sensibly priced EV now with a claimed 360km range. They should do well with that but why do electric cars all have to look so ugly!

Right, that's the bits of pig (pork belly slices) for tomorrow's supper shoved into a Korean-style marinade of gochujang, soy, honey, vinegar, ginger and garlic.

I have just discovered that my " Mountain Equipment " branded trousers have a zip fly with both a bottom and top zipper tag allowing for opening in both directions. I have been trying to envisage different scenarios where this would be advantageous.
