Fried bacon and vegetables for late lunch/early dinner.

German bacon seems to come in doorstep thickness, so unfortunately I'm forced to eat it that way. It's with vegetables, though: carrots and potatoes and things. That's healthy, vegetables.

When I put the food on the plate it didn't fit, so I obviously overdid the vegetables.

It's been a bright, blustery but rather chilly day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept ok-ish at best, just was restless. Had a gentle morning preparing fruit for another batch of marmalade - in the main to use up the lemon sans zest that was in the fridge, and some root ginger that was looking a bit tired.

Lovely luncheon of a crusty white roll filled with smoked ham, cheddar and coleslaw, plus some fruit (an orange and a very nice pear bought in Aldi) and a :cuppa:

After re-stocking the firewood in the house, I kitted up and went for a bicycular bimble in the company of Maximillian the MTB. I was in full winter kit, and heck, it was cold out there! The wind chill was brutal to the point that my face went numb. That said, it was lovely to get out - loads of daffodils and blackthorn in flower now, and I saw a bit of a punch-up between a sparrow hawk and a magpie.

Have managed to watch some bits of thirty blokes playing with a funny-shaped ball.

Had a tasty supper of beef & vegetable soup, then gnocchi in an onion, mustard & cream sauce, plus steamed sprouts on the side. The gnocchi were made with some leftover mashed potato, and the sauce incorporated the last of the ox-heart casserole.

Still not quite warmed up after that ride, but the hot food has helped. Wiull have a nice soak in a hot tub in a bit.

Went out for a couple of hours late morning/early afternoon and boy was it cold in the strengthening wind - the readings off Strava show:
Temperature 6 ℃
Feels like -1 ℃
Wind Speed 14.1 mi/h
Wind Direction ENE
Definitely made the right decision not to go and stand in an old airfield in south Norfolk today and the mug of coffee I had when I got home was much needed.

Tempted to have a quick snooze before cooking something for tea.

I went out for my bicycular bimble at quarter to four, and it felt much the same. :cold:

Standing on the banking at Snett would've been close to suicidal.

Snip it into lardons, pan fry till crisp and then pour over the veggies / pasta etc.

It is the distillation of what is going wrong in Scottish government. Launched without windows (no idea where it is going) over complicated, constantly needed to change plans, holed below the water line.

(For the small number of people not previously on BR, I lived there for a couple of decades and had to put up with the blinkered tub thumping Scottish exceptionalism for most of that time. Yup. That boat is exceptional alright.)
