Last day of the office this week. My temporary supervisor insisted on getting an ergonomic assessment of my desk and sitting position in the office carried out due to recent back problems. I said my recent back problems were related to lying underneath elderly Fords and nothing to do with work, but they say the current chair doesn't suit me and they are to get me a different one. I hope they don't insist on an assessment of my home desk, as I would need to tidy up...

I went to my dance class tonight as my back is much better. Being in the office makes it awkward as I walk past the venue, get something to eat and tidied up, and then walk back again. I've probably walked six or seven miles today.

Ouch @fossyant - hope they can sort it. It's amazing what they can miss when focusing on the immediate vitals.

That's as bad as the doctor not doing a scan of my right-hand side after my 2016 crash: they found I'd torn tissues and tendons a year afterwards. But the conversation with the surgeon in 2017 started with "when you broke your pelvis ..." at which point I replied "when I broke my what?" I'd walked up Table Mountain in South Africa the previous summer with a broken pelvis - which explained why it hurt. Oh, and as they found out even later, also a split IT band which has since had a pig tendon repair.

At least I have another cyclist to talk to. He crashed on ice at speed recently but got away with it other than bike damage. He's in with a very painful back, twisted it doing kettlebells a few weeks back. He's in way more pain than I am. No chance of sleep in here. Lights on bright in corridor and a new patient wheeled in in pain.

All I've had is paracetamol.

Am watching Newsnight.

I get the sense that Trump and Putin are trying to carve up Ukraine in much the same way that Hitler and Stalin did to Poland in 1939.

Those who ignore the mistakes of history are condemned to repeat them.

after what has been said today I'm going on a personal boycott of anything American - they can all feck off

in other news, far more positive and uplifting news - this weeks cycling was completed this evening (all 126.3 mile of it) so I'm on holiday until Sunday when it all starts again - 3 whole days with no bike :wahhey:

Hate the government Leaders, though, not the people. I did what I could to prevent this. In another year and a half, tides will start turning.

Good for you, that's a decent mileage. :notworthy:

I'm a wuss when it comes to winter cycling. Do need to get out though, to see if I can forage any wild garlic.

Pan on the hob with leaf tea, milk, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, pepper, ginger and sugar. Need to let it simmer for a bit.
