Merry Crimble everone.

Today will be a faff but heigh-ho, cooker element blew last week* but luckily we've got a leg of Lamb so that's going in the slow cooker with a bottle of red, couple of Carrots, an Onion, couple of sticks of Celery, a few Anchovies and some Rosemary. Top oven still works so that will do the 'Roasties' then there's Neeps (made with Coriander) and the usual Veggies.

* new cooker ordered but won't be here til next week.

A nicely relaxed day.
The flowers were collected and then I went round to see my Dad and to drop off a couple of things and for a catch up.
After lunch of a slice of toast and a mug of coffee, I got the bike out and went for a couple of hours out in the warmish conditions. On the way home I checked the Octopus app and found out that there were still free drinks available from Cafe Nero, so carried on into Felixstowe, got a large hot chocolate to go and stood drinking it looking out to sea from the cliff top.

As everything for the next couple of days is now round at mum's (dinner on Wednesday, then tea on Thursday when my sister & her family turn up) I might as well enjoy the peace & quiet this evening.

Pretty view.

A mostly grey, mild and still day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept OK-ish despite the rather late night last night. Chores early doors. An early lunch, and then off to Tesco. The place was ridiculously un-busy for Xmas Eve. Super easy to park, hardly anyone in-store. Felt really weird compared to the usual bun-fight.

Good job I turned up early (3pm). No sniff of a regular at all. Just as well, as they started marking down the turkeys before half three, so I had first dibs. Most of the markdowns were only 40%. But whether it was a technical hiccup or a mistake, there was a small bunch of turkeys that went down by 60%.

Which I why two of them kind of fell into my trolley.

Most reductions were done and dusted by about 4:15, which is why some of the regulars rather missed out because they turned up much too late. Not that I'm complaining. Especially Mrs Bowls Club, her sister and a friend, who all walked in with big trolleys and left with just a few loaves of bread, some lettuces and the over-priced pastries from the bakery.

Had a semi-traditional Polish "Wigilia" evening meal here, with beetroot soup, herrings and salad, then smoked salmon mouse with wholegrain rolls and a festive apple crumble with custard to finish.

Now just chilling with a :cuppa: , and will watch midnight mass on TV rather than heading back out.

I wonder if they could have put Midnight Mass on a bit earlier?

I'm on that slow road back from a cold where flavours and smells return, bit by bit. It's the right direction.

I don't think I had a cold, I just seem to be prone sinuses playing up. Always have been but it seems to becoming more common as I've got older.

I have a mild steroid nasal spray that seems to keep it under control most of the time.
