Itching to get back on my bike's

About the same as 1800's stagecoach.
It's called progress.

Try telling that to my customer who has had a multi million pound equipment stood waiting for the parcel

Another not quite full day in the office even though I used the car. Cold and damp, was it drizzle or damp mist. Whatever it made for a dismal trek at lunchtime in search of a Christmas/New Year TV guide. The best intents to buy one failed until I went to Asda afterall. Back in the office I looked at my personal emails and discovered postie unexpectedly had drliveted two parcels which I was expecting to come via DPD. By 2.45 the puzzle of where thet were, and would they still be there, finally sent me to WAH. Turned out they were in the old dustbin that is repository for the card and paper recycling bag.

A cold, miserable and damp day but managed a short walk to stop my legs seizing up.
Down at the marina noticed a small creel boat setting out. I used to have a half dozen creels myself but not in winter as it was too cold out there lifting them and resetting and in any case it was only a hobby.
A larger boat was out checking moorings with divers down. We used to dive in winter and the coldest was 4.0C sea temperature. Even with woolly bears and neoprene dry suit it eventually felt pretty cold.
Trip into the Calmac office and got bookings for a day trip on 31st January and a lesson on the complexities of a failed sailing as it causes the new computer system to cancel any tickets for sailings after the booked time.

Another day of training completed and I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up! One week of training left and we have no idea what we will be doing after that and our manager has moved on and nobody has told us what we will be doing. I sometimes wonder how this company functions.

It was a wee bit foggy walking home and I suspect it might actually freeze tonight. The weather forecast has been all wrong this week so far.

I just put a washing in and will shortly have some of yesterday's leftover soup.

My back feels a lot better now but still slightly iffy. I best be careful.

Nice afternoon at work today (whaaattt ?). We had a 'Faculty has Talent' event - I work at a University.

This was staff 'talent' show - very unexpected people braving an audience of maybe 200 plus people. We had a couple of hours this afternoon for the event. Lots of hot choc on tap (including vegan) and cake/gingerbread - literally loads. Fortunately, lots of student's helped themselves as they came out of class.

So, before the 'talent' show there were staff nomination awards. Most nominated colleague in each School/Department/estates staff etc etc.

I ended up getting one as a member of 'professional services' - I didn't expect it. £50 shopping voucher. Well chuffed. First time I've got anything in 17 years ! A couple of other 'professional' staff who got awards didn't expect anything either, as it's our job to support the Faculty.

The nice thing, is it's come from the 'staff' not the University. Even more so 'unexpected', is I am part of the senior/exec staff at the Faculty - not usually 'thanked' especially being a Finance person... boo hiss. Chuffed to bits.

Got on with the bike fettling this afternoon. Ist bike demudded and the chain cleaned & lubed before it was put outside as it was dry & almost sunny to give me space to work on bike number 2. Bike number 2 demudded, chain cleaned & lubed, mudguard clip replaced and cables tweaked.
Bike number 1 was then brought inside and dried off as it had been raining yet again. I give up.

Almost hot chocolate time.

A grey, dreary, not terribly warm and occasionally drizzly day here chez Casa Reynard.

Once again, sleep compromised due to lady issues. Still, up early to meet up with a friend for our weekly dog walk. Also passed on her share of the fish, brie and dented cans of tomatoes and lentils. Stopped off at the village book exchange and picked up a Yottam Ottolenghi cook book. TBH, I didn't really fancy it much as it's too "coffee table" for me - I prefer books that are more user friendly - but then I noticed that it was signed...

As it was dry on my return, I went out into the garden and hauled in some more branches that Bert and Darragh shook loose. It's reasonable quality, so worth letting it dry out and then cut it up for firewood. Everything is just so soggy here right now.

My walking boots leak, so my feet got wet. Mind you, putting on dry socks after is rather sybaritic.

Spent the afternoon doing general stuff. Firstly topping up the wood bins in the house, and then wrapping gifts and getting them ready for postage. Only one package left to do, now. Tomorrow I'll be wanging all the cards and parcels at the postal service.

This evening's supper was tomato soup, followed by kidneys, bacon and onions, a buttered jacket potato and some green beans. Madam Lexi had some fishy Felix AGAIL.
