A delayed from Tuesday day in the office and the car amazingly did not need defrosting. Just a very thin layer not immediately noticeable and on the windscreen dispensed with by the wipers and a blast from the front heater.
Lunchtime and a 1 week 2 day late blood test midway through a chilly one mile walk.
Back home to find a DPD delivery were I had requested it be left. Item rather chilly.

It's been a brrrrrrrrrrrrright and chhhhhhhhhhilllllly day here chez Casa Reynard. Not as blustery as yesterday, so felt reasonable outside in comparison. However, the drive and my car never defrosted at all, and a bucket with a few inches of water in it that was inadvertently left outside has frozen solid. So pretty cold.

Slept surprisingly well. The extra blanket helped, as did the furry purry hot water bottle who crawled in under the duvet. Had a quiet morning sorting out some paperwork, and then I set up outside the garage to turn last week's trailer load of wood into logs. The service and new chain on the saw has really made a difference - some eight inch sections of ash were no bother. Like a hot knife through butter.

Trailer is now empty, so I can go for another load after the weekend. Just to keep on top of things.

I put a large lump of cherry wood on top of the hot coals last night at 11pm. it was still smouldering twelve hours later, so really easy to stoke up the fire. There is still a small piece of it, the size of a large paperback book burning in the grate. How impressive it that?

Another indoors day as the temperature outside veered between 0.0C and 3.0C with a mix of snow which lay for a while and then melted with a blink sunshine till the next lot of sleet arrived. Just now it is 2.0C outside.
Read a library book for a bit after lunch before falling asleep which I detest as I feel terrible for ages when I wake up.

At long last MV Glen Sannox has been handed over to CMAL who actually own the vessels run by Calmac. She will not enter service until after crew familiarisation but no idea how long that will be. It will probably not affect us as she is destined mainly for the Clyde estuary routes I think.
There will be lots of people on their knees praying. A lot will be praying that she will break down and they can get on with trying to score irrelevant political points and the rest will be praying she does not break down.
They should cancel each other out and so the naysayers would not win.

Another day of training completed, although not entirely sure what I've learnt!

The snow was only really a light dusting around here. I thought this morning it would be worse at the office as it's much higher up but wasn't. Still pretty chilly walking home.

I was walking past the entrance to a housing estate on the way home and some woman in a C-Class stopped and started ranting out the window at me as I had no hi-vis and was a danger to everyone! There was much I felt like saying, but decided to keep walking. This is in a built up area under streetlights.

A competition prize has arrived this afternoon. I did know I'd won a runners-up prize, whatever 'it' was, but wasn't sure what would actually arrive. So ... in the nice box is a chav-tastic loungewear set, a mobile phone holder and a fluffy notepad. Some people will be getting odd presents this Christmas :okay:

You do realise we need photos of you modelling said clothing...

Mrs 73 Christmas off duty is now confirmed. She working all Christmas and over the new year, only day off is Boxing Day.
Luckily she got asked to swop Christmas Day late shift for a morning one. So we get Christmas Day evening together.
So most of the big day it's me and Charlie 1st time we've not managed to fit in Christmas morning and some sort of dinner.
Our Christmas Day looks to be happening on Boxing Day. We've talk things though and Mrs 73 wants a full dinner then. Not sure I fancy cooking much on Boxing Day.

Prep most things ahead, and have it all oven / microwave ready. And maybe swap a turkey for a really good steak or something. Umm yeah, and have a good supply of smoked salmon, charcuterie and cheeses in the fridge to go alongside a nice crusty loaf.
