Thank you for your reply. The shop is in west Worcestershire.

As you suggest, she could "specialise" in craft items, from threads, needles fabric etc, and books, patterns etc. If you were starting to learn sewing, buying all the accessories you need might be expensive. Inexpensive kit to get someone started is a good idea. Being able to turn up hems or make basic repairs is a useful skill.

There is a sewing/yarn shop in this town that does classes in sewing. They are now in premises large enough to have a Class room set up for sewing machines lessons. I would think she would not want to do that in competition with another shop.

There are several "knitting groups" one of which meets in the evening in a pub. For many people these are a social event as well as knitting or crochet. They are not really in competition with each other.
Why doesn't she advertise these groups?

It needn't be an actual advert, a simple list of where they meet and when in case anyone asks about where they could improve or get help for their hobby.

Finished off wrapping most of Mrs 73's Christmas presents. I've a bit of a rethink to do as one or two have not arrived and been refunded.
One was only coming from the next county and lost in the post. Yet something I ordered from Australia has arrived.
Always buy one to many but i've only her to buy to buy for really so I kind of like hunting things down.

I did need to start on a new roll spotted our boxing day sales. Wrapping paper stash is running low been years since we got any. Mostly 15m rolls with 2 for £1 labels. Now your lucky to find 5m rolls for £1, I want to move to reusable boxer and cloth gift bags. Mrs 73 likes the paper so once it all gone we've compromised and are moving to brown paper, festive string decorated with stickers or festive ink stamps. Together with the boxers and bags we already have.

That's what I did a few years ago when my stash of wrapping paper ran out. Mainly because a lot of it simply isn't recyclable due to containing plastic. OK, I can use it to get the fire going as that's where waste paper gets diverted here when the heating is needed, but not everyone has that option.

Ergo brown paper, which *IS* recyclable. And as you point out, is fun to customize, and jazz up with ribbon and bows and stuff. I always look out for nice decorative ribbons in the sales.

Bloomin' car park in town today!!

Car park machine wouldn't take cards. My emergency £5, kept in the back of my phone case, wouldn't work, but I had just enough cash in the car to put in but it doesn't take 5p's. Luckily, two traffic wardens were walking past and I swapped my 8 x 5p's and I was free to leave 😂 xx

The machines near you give change!
Round here the accept "overpayment" and don't give change.

How long were you parking for, ten minutes?

Had the £5 note in your mobile case been there a while.

She sounds like a very community orientated person. So I would be fairly sure that if she does not have room, or even if she does, she could "advertise" the other groups.

Parked for 3 or 4 hours (first 2 hours free, £2.20 after that) The Fiver is my 'emergency' money.. Just in case. It usually lurks in the back of my phone for a few months.
