I would post the recipe she uses up for you to try vernon but I fear that most of Mrs ID's recipes are a somewhat imprecise art that would not necessarily translate to written instructions.
I believe the 'secret ingredient' in the stock is mushroom ketchup, which she is going out to get a fresh bottle of having found we have managed to survive the non-Steak and Kidney suet pie season without any.
When I make steak and kidney pies I also use an imprecise ingredients list and recipe. Mushrooms and celery are the things that I use to add the 'je ne sait quoi' taste element of the stock.
