Well he's here and he arrived about half an hour late so he may be even later getting to you!

(Edit: just heard the word diverter valve ... are they cheap or expensive?)
I have absolutely no idea. As it's a bit of a trade item, I'd say it's fairly cheap for them and fairly pricey for you.

Which is not what you wanted to hear....

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
He's coming back on Thursday to take the whole thing apart to fit the valve..... so that sounds like a long job!

I have no idea what that part is, but any time they say something you don't understand, its going to cost you a lot, or at least more than you are expecting.

It's the bit where they tell you that it's right at the back and they have to dismantle the whole thing that you know is going to be expensive.

I'm sure we've had those valves replaced in the past.... in a previous house, it seems to be a weak point in the system.

ours has had several valves fail. All have been difficult to get to and taken an age to do.
There are times when I am so glad I am a tenant and know I will take out boiler cover when I actually am no longer a tenant!

This is not helping. Bit of superglue, bam, new wisdom tooth.
Removal could be a traumatic event using pliers, tunnelling drills, miniature jackhammers, bolt cutters, sweating dentists, student dentist standing around, maybe fainting, all sorts of anxiety inducing scenarios...
I might phone to postpone the appointment now....

I'm alright with the dentist, but sometimes that crunching and cracking noise as they try to break the tooth free from your jaw is a bit off putting.

Aren't I nice waiting until after you've been to post this?

Having lost my two front teeth in my collision, the best dentist sound I have heard was when she hammered spikes into my skull just below my nose to take the implants.

You should have come to me, I teach soldering. Actually, you could be my star pupil, some of those I endeavour to teach have difficulty grabbing the right end of the iron.
I know one safety tip about soldering..... I learnt it through careful observation of Mr Summerdays .... Don't see how hot it is using your nose or if you do, don't do it with an unsympathetic wife watching
