So @potsy said @Speicher is Ma Baker that villanous old lady that ran her sons as a gang of armed robbers in the deep midwest?

Ma Baker is alive
I believe that was Ma Barker

I'm particularly glad it's Friday. The first week of the term is always tiring!

I woke up at a quarter past three this morning, my wife said that there were lots of stars in the sky so I went out to have a look. Sure enough there were lots of bright stars despite a bit of light cloud. My wife asked why the sky was so much clearer here than back at home and that question kept going through my mind all night.

Less light pollution there than home

I think it may be more a question of pollution. Where I live I have noticed more passenger jets flying over leaving vapour trails, some times they just dissipate while other times they spread and form a milky cloud layer. During our week stay down here I have only seen three jets.

You ought to visit the west coast of Ireland or Scotland, I have always been amazed at how clear the air is compared to the yellow 'fug' that hangs over (in my case) Leicester but any major city suffers this pollution.
