How many swear words did it need to do that?

None. It was a five minute job and, on reflection, I reckon I can do it in thirty seconds next time if my idea bears fruit.

The parking space outside our house became available so I've taken the opportunity to fill it with our car; it's a Ford Grand C-Max which, for some strange reason, we decided to buy after the two eldest had left home ( it's a 7 seater)

Much rather have that Saab!

I lost a cleat bolt. This meant unclipping didn't unclip. Which in turn meant that I fell over. Cabbie didn't seem impressed though, in fairness, he didn't run me over. I'm now going to check the tension on my other shoes. When did you last check your shoes?

You're only saying that now that you've bought one.
We went to collect it this morning and the dealer says that the idle is a bit rough but he thinks that it will sort itself out as it's been stood for a month or so when the previous owner was no longer able to drive. He said that before he takes any money to take it for a spin for a couple of hours. We said that we had arranged to visit Hubster's sister near London and he said "great idea, bring it back tomorrow lunchtime and we'll sort the money and paperwork if it's ok" so we took it to Tottenham, visited IKEA for tea and SIL while at it and drove home again.
That idle is still as rough as guts but the car is fine when running. I hope he can sort the idle thing out as we really like the car. I especially like the cruise control. I've really missed cruise control on a long run since selling our jeep 3 years ago.
Definitely a cool car though. We still haven't given him a penny for it. It's quite economical. We were getting nearly 40mpg which is not too shoddy for a 2 litre car.

I used to have a Mazda 6 with a 2l petrol engine years ago, 40mph was all I could get out of it if I took it steady as well.

It was great at going round corners though.

My old 1.3 only just manages 40 mpg, and only on a good day, mind you I think Hyundai should be done under the trade descriptions act, they put a 1.3 badge on the car but the engine is actually a 1340, so closer to a 1.4 than a 1.3, nice motor though.
