Hover fly's spade has arrived. I am far too kind to him.

I was thinking it was about the time of year for the cheese rolling near Gloucester, which is a ludicrously stupid bit of mighty fine entertainment -but it turns out I'm 3 weeks ahead of myself. I was wondering what other mad traditional local events were going on around England this Bank Holiday. I did find an intriguing alternative not too far away, though. Apparently near Dorchester on Sunday there is the "Dorset Knob Throwing". (???).
They are also advertising alternative activities such as "knob painting", "knob eating" and "guess the weight of the big knob".
All sounds like perfectly innocent fun. Might give it a miss, though.

(OK @Fnaar, do your best).

Today I went fishing for the first time in years. It was a trip to a fishery with a group I am involved with and I am somewhat glad I never caught anything, although I would have put it back anyway, instead of beating the poor beast's brains out on a rock with a large bit of wood like others did. Heck, even the live bait put me off.

It was cold, boring, and I had a couple of duff rods (that had been provided). One had a reel that kept on tangling itself up and jamming, and the second, the winder broke after one cast.

I've had better days.

I've got a big pack of roasted and salted peanuts open and on the go. And - NO - you can't have any

I LOVE salted peanuts, but because of my digestive problems, eating too many of them, or to be exact, not chewing them up into minuscule pieces, combined with a large amount of them, tends to leave me doubled over soon afterwards as all the bits scrape through me like gravel!

Even chewing them up into tiny pieces doesn't always work either.

Its very much a case of me liking them, but my body not.

Oh no. That is just dreadful. I can't imagine life without a peanut binge now and again
