I've just ridden down the road on my Brompton to test out its new tyres. I've done one more ride than @vernon this year.

Blimey - what a fiddle taking off the Brompton's back wheel. I've dislocated both thumbs putting on the Marathon Plus tyres.

Right, another lap of the roundabout is in order before the evening meal and one afterwards. I hope Fenton is up to pushing me and the bike, he's been at the vintage Krug.

I made that mistake on an Irish sea crossing back to Holyhead, I decided to go up on deck and p*ss over the rail (downwind )

It's hot. :heat:

The temperature was 27 in and 30 out when I got up at 9am (later than usual, but the heat made sleeping tougher). Now, it's 30 in and 35 out, with the maximum predicted to reach 41. Apart from the obvious risk of bush fires (and we've already had a few nasty ones in the last few days), another risk on days like this is the power grid failing and people having to endure the heat with no fans or airconditioning, and having everything in their fridges/freezers being spoiled.

That leaves only one option to keep cool: cold showers (at least while the water stays reasonably cold). Let's hope that doesn't occur, because on days like this I tend to just sit in front of the PC, and write code and/or browse the internet.

At least I'm young and healthy: I feel sorry for the elderly and frail in this heat. I saw a lot of people down at the local shopping centre, when I went down there to pick up a few groceries and have a small breakfast and coffee. They're there to enjoy the airconditioning.

I guess I had that coming...
A few minutes ago, my PC showed the BSOD (aka "Blue Screen Of Death") while trying to start a program. Then while it was rebooting, the power to the house shut down for about 10 seconds.
