I just went for a 1 hour walk around my local streets, finding one that I hadn't walked before, and which has a 25% grade in one section. Here's a photo I took (the steep grade starts after the left-hand bend), although it doesn't really show the steep grade properly. My legs definitely felt it, though. Believe it or not, this is typical of the streets in my area, one of the reasons I moved here: I love hills!

Actually, I got that a bit wrong: there's 2 grades over 20%. The other one is here, a few 100m further along the same road:

My PC backup job has just finished backing up 440GB of data, and took 14 hours. Now it's started the checking phase. My fault for being thorough, I guess...

Yes, it's taken a while, but 440GB over 14 hours is roughly 1GB every 2 minutes, not too bad, considering the backup was written to a USB 2.0 external hard disk. This is a full backup, and subsequent backups will be incremental and won't take anywhere near as long.
