Sometimes I plan a ride out and when I get up the next morning, the Mojo just isn't there!
Usually, if I do decide to ride, within a mile or so, I'm enjoying it and ready for more.
On a few, but rare, occasions, I've cut the ride short and put it down as a bad day.

I'm still a Strava tart though, and log stuff for my personal use...

Only about 40 miles a week.

That is not a lot. So we can't attribute it to too much of cycling.
Perhaps it may be useful to identify why do you cycle. Sometime ago, there was a very interesting discussion here why do we cycle.

I find having a goal is a good motivator be it a tour, mileage goal or something more silly.

Currently, I'm trying to exceed my driving mileage on my bike. It's silly but keeps me going.

I did about 50 miles more in the car than I did on the bike last year, this year I've done about the same mileage on both.

The weather has a big influence on me, hate the wind, hate the rain so finding the current weather really hard work. Sometimes stepping away for a couple of days is the best thing.

You really wouldn't have liked my commute this morning then  The heaviest rain I have cycled in for a long time. Absolute stair rods. Cold and windy too.

Oddly enough I quite like nasty-weather riding. The whole thing - riding to exhaustion, getting drenched and frozen, choosing stupid hilly routes, arriving home sleep-deprived and gibbering makes me worry about myself sometimes.

I log my rides too. I like sitting at the laptop with ridewithgps and doing little trips down memory lane.

If you do find it could you see if mine is there too?

Despite the occasional spell of getting my act together I am mainly a none cyclist these days, cannot blame the weather as I used to commute in all conditions but not anymore.
Even today when the sun is out I am still dithering about whether to go out for an hour, probably won't.

No excuses on Saturday morning! :okay:

Sometimes "off the bike" stresses like death, divorce, job, relationship, can put a damper on the riding - especially if they are associated.

Try different approaches to get it back. This could be like overcoming an illness. First find out what is behind your feelings.

Since I stopped keeping a log of all my rides, I find that I don't go out riding so often now. I still love my cycling and all to do with cycling but the motivation to go out as dropped a bit somehow. I am not asking for advice as I know from other threads what most of you will say but would just like to know how often you feel like that too.

When the motivation goes you need to ditch any thoughts of distance, speed and performance. Just go out for an hour and try and rediscover the reason you fell in love with cycling in the first place, just pootling along at your own pace and enjoying the freedom and the scenery. Stop at a café or take a sandwich or a small flask of tea or coffee (And a cigarette if you are of that ilk) and stop somewhere nice and just chill out. It is too easy to become obsessed with speeds and distances and turn cycling into an ordeal.

I think that I left my mojo in East Anglia. Been moved for nearly 3 months now and have only had 4 road rides. The hills are doing my head in and have really sapped the love and enjoyment that I had for riding my bike. Getting a tadge jaded with the trail.
