MOT - Isn't it nice when things just....work

Do people really not check their tyre condition between MOT tests?

I've spoken to quite a few people who won't even fill up with petrol because they are afraid. Likewise one colleague took his/her car to a garage because his/her windscreen washers had run out. I suppose some people have a fear of things mechanical. I doubt many people have looked inside their computer either (not that PCs have an MOT)
