I have a visual before the MoT to make sure all bulbs are ok and there is no obvious problem. But I ALWAYS forget to check the number plate bulb and have had several fails on it.
Isn't it great when you come across people who love their work
Does putting the seats up count as 'removing items'?They are not allowed to remove items, not the testers fault, blame it on the customers.

My rear wiper blade needs replacing. But I don't have an MoT in the offing.
And what do I have a rear wiper for anyway? Does anyone else bother to look in the mirror?
I'm sure the number who do is tiny, and getting smaller all the time.I'm always amazed when people's cars fail an MOT test due to worn tyres. Do people really not check their tyre condition between MOT tests?
Thats why you have an MOT.I'm always amazed when people's cars fail an MOT test due to worn tyres. Do people really not check their tyre condition between MOT tests?

Checking the inside wall of tyres properly you need to jack car up and then spin the wheel while checking, apart from that it's roll car forward a couple of inches at a time while checking, to much hassle.Yes, I get that, but the responsible motorist should use the MOT test to check on things that are hard to see or for the lay person to understand. Tyres are easily visible, quick to check and vital for safety.
I think you will find that most tyres fail due to the tread being below the legal minimum, not due to sidewall damageChecking the inside wall of tyres properly you need to jack car up and then spin the wheel while checking, apart from that it's roll car forward a couple of inches at a time while checking, to much hassle.
Either way it's still a fail.I think you will find that most tyres fail due to the tread being below the legal minimum, not due to sidewall damage
Not arguing that, but it is easy to check thread depth even visually with no special toolsEither way it's still a fail.
If a jobs worth doing, do it properly, simple. Not arguing that, but it is easy to check thread depth even visually with no special tools
