My local Lidl has got a Motorcycle rain suit in for approx £13: could be good for cycling in the rain?

You'd get a bit hot. No, strike that. VERY hot.

I'm thinking of getting one of the tool kits on my way home tonight if they still have any. I figure I'm going to need the tools to do the maintenance so I might as well bite the bullet and get the lot in one go rather than buying the bits separately for a fiver a piece!

I treated young Cubester to a pair of the SPD shoes at the weekend. They aren't as heavy as the last lot, and appear to be reasonably well made. I don't expect them to last too long, but as his feet are still growing at an enormous rate (he wears size 9 at age 11!) 18 of our earth pounds doesn't seem too much to spend, even if he only gets to the end of the summer out of them.

Tell him to be gentle with the velcro strap. The shoes are fine but the metal ring the strap goes through is very soft and will bend and pull out if you aren't careful.

By the way, size 9! ;) 'Kinell.
