I have a couple of pairs of Levi 501’s which are 32” waist which are a similar size to lots of my 34” waist suit trousers. I also have 2 pairs of Prana jeans these are much baggier and have a diamond shape insert in the crotch as they for rock climbing. Again they are 32” waist but more like 34” plus.
I suspect theses days mens trouser sizes has gone the way of womens i.e sized to flatter.

I have been trying jeans from all sorts of places
I prefer to try them on before I buy them so on-line is no good

Anyway - last few years I have had to have the stretch ones - which are fine when I buy them

and after several washes they don't shrink back to the original size
just slightlyu bigger

and hence baggier

so theyt are fine and fit well for a few months - then just fit worse and worse over time

and the knees seem to get a hole in them far faster than they used to

I have gone down a size recently
- which fit better

and my wife managed to find some which are not "shrink" ones - no lycra
she had to get them online from M&S - they have not had non-shrink ones in the shop for years!

Wearing them to death, always M&S ones though.
That sounds mundane. Earlier you sounded like Bruce Banner, destroying seams with abandon

Back in the 70's / 80's my go to jeans were Falmers, don't know if they are still made.

My elder brother, a rocker, used to buy Sea Dogs.

Now I just buy whatever I come across.

The only no no for me is button flies

My problem with modern jeans is there never seems to be enough room around the thigh area and they always feel very tight there.
