I lost both my parents in the early 90's, my mother due to Cancer, my father due to a Heart attack. (3 years apart but both at the age of 53) I wasn't that close to them really. (I left home at 17). But by Golly do I miss them now. I think about the both of them everyday. I have a really nice picture of them both with ianrauk jnr (when he was about 3 years old) by my front door.. so also see them everyday I leave the house. I also wear my fathers pinky ring and next to that my mothers wedding ring.

My dad always said that "memories last longer than dreams" and he was right ( as he always was ;)) He died in Mar 01 of asbestos related cancer. Still think I catch a glimpse of him from time to time, in a shop, walking through the city centre with his mop of white hair and a flat cap to keep it under control. Thought I saw him in a garage filling up his car with petrol recently, I was so convinced I even went back to check. Madness I know but grief does that to you.

I do not think that what you describe is madness at all. I have had it happen to me several times. My father died in 2001. I have often thought I have seen him, and certainly felt him in the car with me at times. Cars were his life. Once he even "said" to me, you are going the wrong way, and he was right.

Time makes things easier,i have found. My little story is i was in the shower at 05-00am.Getting ready for work.I heard a loud knock.I knew who it was.My mum, she was in hospital at the time.By the time i got to work 06-00.The hospital had rung she had passed away at 5.My dad always wanted his ashes spread over a cliff at Ravenscar nr Scarborough.Well just as we had thrown the last handful out into the wind.An RAF jet plane flew across our line of vision so low we could see the pilot.I still think it was a sign of him saying goodbye. For now.
You may not agree with the next statement. But i will see my parents again.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Me Dad died four days before my 19th birthday, and on my birthday (between pubs) I went into the bookies for a punt. My dad liked the odd flutter. One of the horses in the 4.35 at Kempton was called 'supreme angel' and with a quid on, it came in at 15:1.

I like to think it was my dad's way of buying me a pint. Made me smile then and it still does.
