I think she's deeply unfunny. All a bit too slapstick for me.

edit - I'm a laydee slug, BTW

+ 1. I like Not Going Out and find that funny, but the problem is when stars of comedy suddenly
start writing their own, often it doesn't work as well. Dear Green Place (written by Still Game actors)
and The King Is Dead are two examples, well IMO anyway .

On a slightly different topic, anyone seen the Jo Brand sit com about nursing? Had to turn off after 10mins of the 1st episode absolute dog poo,and I normally like her stuff

On the contrary, her Nursing series is a work of genius and by far one of the best shows on TV.

Mrs P really likes Miranda. I find it amusing in small doses. It has it's moments. She was much better as the cleaner in Not Going Out. IMHO.

but I have problems with the Big-Women-Are-Inherently-Risible thing. Still, she does at least confront that assumption head-on

She was sometimes referred to as 'Womanzilla' in that much under-esteemed comedy, Hyperdrive.

Steptoe and Son would not have worked with a woman in it.

OT, but I have sometimes wondered whether Steptoe and Son should really have been about a mother and daughter.

Arch might like to know that I shared a train vestibule from Swansea to London with Gorgeous Gary (aka Tom Ellis)

and his small daughter

Bugger it. I'll have to move him to the reserve list.

Still, half an hour with him in, followed by an hour of Sue Perkins and Tom Ellis lookalike Giles Coren, has made my Monday evenings for a couple of weeks.

I love the Jo Brand nursing series too - I suspect it's one of those things that is rather closer to the truth than we'd wish, and on the cusp of comedy/tragedy.

Ah, Mr Paul, if you wonder why your post has been edited by me... I was sorting the smiley formatting error I made, and you quoted.... Forgot it would show up as edited by me.... I promise I didn't touch a pixel of your text...

By the way, I think I love you.

Ah, Arch, I've just done exactly the same with your last post. Didn't add anything to your post. Honest.

BTW Bobg, I think you will find you missed an apostrophe in the title to this thread. It's a woman's opinion. I don't want to make a big thing of it, just informing you for future reference.

Miranda?

(potters over to Google to suss out which Miranda they're on about)

I should explain that, to me, this is Miranda:

And yesssss! Phwoarrrrrr!!! She's beeeeauuuutiful! Don't you all agree?
A much more interesting Miranda, I must say, and the one I would associate with the name. I even my recently dead cat comes second as a Miranda.

I had a look at the one being discussed and remembered why I don't watch tv comedy particularly often. Didn't do anything for me.
