I am sort of watching it now. But not sure I will persevere till the end of the programme.

I think she was so much better in "Not Going Out" with Lee Mack.

I find some of the jokes funny in a sort of your worst nightmare way - and hopefully having seen her do it I won't have to. I wouldn't describe it as laughing until I cry though. And the actress won my admiration when she did the comic relief cycle ride earlier this year.

Personally I like her, I find her gently funny. Not laugh out loud stuff, quite old fashioned in a way, kind of reminds me of a female Frankie Howerd with all those comments to camera. Yes there's funnier stuff on TV, but there's also been a lot worse. We somehow gave the likes of Ben Elton, Russ Abbott and Jim Davidson a career for over a decade.

I can see she's not everyone's cup of tea though and I don't see her having a long career in TV.

Although I am not a woman, I would like to contribute. I've just been watching a bit of it. It's not the worst comedy I've ever seen on the BBC; in fact, it's about average. I thought she was better as Chloe Teal, Diplomatic Officer aboard HMS Camden Lock in Hyperdrive.

Well there being nothing else I wanted to watch between 8.30 and 9.00, I have this another go tonight. I stwitched off after 10 minutes. Apart from pretty much all the criticism above, I can't bear her voice!

I'm now busy watching and laughing at the Good Life (2010 version) afterwards.

There's a 2010 version of the Good Life?

What?

Giles and Sue Live the Good Life!

And so they have been making candles from beef fat today.... and apparently its smells of beef when you burn them....

Going back to Miranda ... the best line was the bit about she was sure she wasn't pregnant and he kept asking ... and eventually she confesses to the entire room that she hadn't had sex for 3 years. Which a friend of mine has suffered a similar experience when the hospital was about to give her iodine to kill off her thyroid. As she had been feeling really unwell for a while she was definite that she wasn't pregnant, but was forced to say it out loud. I'm sure she would have seen the funny side of that one.

Me too, Sue Perkins always makes me chuckle.
Probably not what you think RB but worth a look

BTW Not sure what to conclude about the Miranda comments, the majority dislike but not many openly support Becs and Mrs BG. I wonder if there would be a man/ woman split if more men commented?

Even if you dont like the whole package you have to admit that theres some good one liners as per Summerdays above

I think I am in support of Becs and Mrs BG - it's the whole angsty, car crash cannot avoid looking aspect that I find difficult too. It was so long ago that I endured it that I can't remember exactly what it was like so am not going to analyse it too much based on that memory. If she is a good writer then I suppose there can be more interesting ways to flesh out a character.

I think it's like a Bridget Jones but dopier...I hated the way it portrayed women but accept that women can also identify with it.

I find it not an unpleasant way to spend 30 mins in front of the tellybox and there's not many things I can say that about. My sides remain unsplit but mirth prevailed.

If she's such a great writer why does she have to resort to jokes about how she can't get laid? I'm assuming this is supposed to be because her "character" is too tall/fat/ugly/dopey - hilarious!

I don't normally get wound up about such trivial things but the woman really annoys me for some reason (apart from the charity bike ride - all credit to her for doing that).
