Mince pies - when did they start appearing on the supermarket shelves

Asda usually start with mps in November and then bring in the hot cross buns almost immediately afterwards.

I've often thought that if they could put the cross on the mince pies, I could economically celebrate the crucifixion of the baby jesus.

We? Pack of 4? Does not compute. I have, in the past, managed a pack of 6 solo! But they make me parp a lot.
