There's a huge difference between peacefully protesting the rights of cyclists and deliberately aiming to disrupt a national event with many years effort and organisation in which I think we can take some pride.

"It would have only taken 10 minutes to let them pass" ... I can almost hear your reply being typed. Well Ok except that of course an event of this scale takes precision timing. Perhaps we should have asked Danny to make sure cyclists were represented in the actual event itself. Oh wait ...
much as I love your efforts at constructing a case for the prosecution ex nihilo, it's worth pointing out, before we leave the real world for some hyperspatial realm of your own construction........there was no disruption of the opening ceremony.

And as for cyclists represented in the opening ceremony. That was nice.

It's hard enough pedalling a bike, let alone wasting valuable energy flapping some wings...

IThe questions still remain unanswered: why was the usual CM attendance swelled from the usual 100 to 500, and why were they so insistent on riding to Stratford when that location had never been visited (or even contemplated) before in the whole 15 year CM London history?
that's a really good question, and, like all good questions, there seems to be a lot of different answers

some people wanted to protest the Zil lanes
some people wanted to go and watch the fireworks
some people (one presumes, indeed one hopes only a few) didn't even know they were going anywhere near the Olympics. Like I said, CMers are not generally speaking intellectuals

and here's a funny thing. The Southend FNRttC goes over the Bow Flyover - and, over the last year or two it's been fascinating to watch the Park come in to being. I've also gone to the Viewtube with the CC sunday ride, just to see what's happening, but the Flyover gives you the best view of the Park you could possibly wish for. So....I'd been saying to Susie 'we should go to the Flyover to watch the opening ceremony'. Which, in the event we didn't because I've sort of got tired of the thing, and we wanted to ride to Brighton early on Saturday morning. But there is an irony here. Had we whizzed, in our genteel, middleaged fashion, over the flyover to watch the fireworks I'd be penning this contribution from some gulag of Buckfast Boy's devising.

We need more double-spacing self-important windbags droning on about what CM means, notwithstanding the fact they know nothing about CM, have never attended, know nobody who does and have never even spoken with an attendee.

Good point. It's like the folk who've probably never met or had to deal with an angry, aggressive individual suddenly becoming experts on the subject.

You means those who has never lived together with a female and still think they know how to deal with them ?

I know. Medal winning bravery, it was. I have conned my gf to look the other way and hope if she will not read what I wrote. If she does, I will be in trouble. House arrest awaits.

How about you ? Will you ever be brave enough to be honest ?
