I was thinking 50/60 miles and to be honest, was probably going to be drawing on the Manchester 100 for inspiration.
So Al, quite happy to ride your route.

Have you got a GPX with the route details?
I was going to put a route together tonight or tomorrow and make a GPX file available .. then just publish the meeting place and start time.

Hi, I got the pm. Thanks.

I'll send you a pm with all the details later. The event goes live on the first of December. I am still waiting on confirmation on the routes from Cheshire east council although Stockport cleared them incredibly quickly.

I can bring gels and bars for the people who come out on the 11th and I'll see if I can sort out some sort of promotional voucher for the sportive.

Swiss hill...................hopefully. All depends on the council and my insurance company. I have risk assessed it and monitored the traffic etc. There will be a bit of something for those who ride it but that's for after the event !!!!!
I'll get the routes up tonight. I'm sending this off my phone.

We rode this a few weeks back - at least 2 of the group ended up on their arse, including the strongest climber.

Utter madness at this time of year.

The event is on the 6th march. There is an alternative route. And if its raining its a no-no. Also I am still waiting on the council.

Here are the routes. The full 60, the 30 with two versions. With and without Swiss Hill. Swiss Hill is not optional (unless the weather is bad) on the 60 and will be a timed climb.

The 30 miles (50km) route including swiss hill
http://bikeroutetoas...x?course=190971
Feed station at 14.5 miles

There is an alternative version which misses out swiss hill:
http://bikeroutetoas...x?course=190954

The full 60miles (100km)
http://bikeroutetoas...x?course=190970
Feed stations at 21 and 37 miles.

Just click on the summary tab for elevation etc.

My website goes live on the 1st december. www.polocini.com

Cheers

Happy to go for the 60 miler (third route) avoiding Swiss Hill (not worth the risk it might be icy).
I'd suggest starting at about ten thirty? .. I'm happy to lead a ride out from Didsbury to the start?

Cheers

I am happy to follow your lead. I'll need to know numbers so I can bring enough gels and bars etc. If there is a few riders I might drive over and meet in woodford. I don't like riding with a backpack.

My second event is on 15th may. It's called kegs and legs. It's a sportive followed up by a beer festival. That event goes live on the 1st jan. Although anyone who comes on this ride will get a sneak preview!

Okay, who is up for this?
If this weather prevails, might have cut it short and go for the 30 miler.. esp as I'd be riding with sno tyres
(I was planning to use my road bike, for 23 mm tyres in these conditions is just insane)

Al,
I wouldn't worry too much about bringing energy Gels.
