Nah, they're uglyPersonally I'd go for the XT's and save yourself another 9g![]()
There's a trick to use with them, set off with one foot clipped in using a lowish gear then after 2-3 pedal revs lift the unclipped foot up at the bottom of its stroke then put it back on EDIT at the top. Centrifugal (centripetal actually for the pedants) force will keep the weightier side of the pedal to the outside so its now the right way up.I do but they are an utter pain being only one sided!
Oddf you should say that. I got a pair of A600s earlier this year and I find them just as easy to use a my old M530s.I do but they are an utter pain being only one sided!
They are always the wrong way round and fed up with faffing with my foot after every set of lights, of which there are squillion a round here! Have the m520 on the Pearson, easy peasy to useOddf you should say that. I got a pair of A600s earlier this year and I find them just as easy to use a my old M530s.
I don't have a pedal spanner...I wasn't planning on fitting them myself!540s don't have flats for a pedal spanner - you have to use an allen key to fit or remove them.
520s do have flats.
I struggle to get enough torque to undo the 540s, so I prefer the 520s
That's the reason I didn't go with those despite being lighter than the xt's, got the 530's on my commuter for the wider platform but can't say it makes any difference. They are always the wrong way round and fed up with faffing with my foot after every set of lights, of which there are squillion a round here!
I doubt vickster will be servicing them seeing as she won't even be fitting them herselfGot 520s on 5 of my bikes, had no trouble. In got the Shimano tool an strip, clean, degrease and 're tension the bearings annually.
